Electricity subsidy
The Norwegian government launched a temporary electricity support package for households.
From October 1st. 2025, electricity customers can choose between two different electricity support schemes; Norgespris (fixed price) or regular electricity support.
Norgespris (fixed price)
With the Norway price, you get a fixed electricity rate of 50 øre/kWh (incl. VAT) - at home and at the cabin.
You will still retain your regular electricity agreement with your power supplier. The Norway price will be administered by the network companies, and the support will be deducted from the network lease invoice, similar to today's electricity support scheme.
If you do not want the Norway price on electricity, you don't need to do anything and will keep the current electricity support scheme.
It is not possible to order Norgespris yet.
- There will be a maximum limit on the amount of electricity consumption that qualifies for electricity support: - For households: 5,000 kWh per month - For holiday homes: 1,000 kWh per month Consumption exceeding this limit will be billed at the normal electricity price as agreed with the electricity sales company.
- You can choose whether you want to have Norgepris or today's electricity support scheme. Regardless, you will still have your regular electricity contract. Network tariff is additional.
- The Norway price can be ordered throughout the year, and those who choose Norgespris are committed until the end of the year, with the first commitment period lasting until December 31, 2026.
- The price should be adjusted once a year, and be valid from January 1 to December 31. The initial price of 50 øre (40 øre excluding VAT) will be valid until the end of 2026, with a new price from January 1, 2027.

Regular electricity support
All households that have their own electricity meter and are duly registered as a domestic customer with a network company are entitled to electricity support.
The electricity subsidy applies for each hour the spot price in your price area exceeds 75 øre/kWh excluding VAT. (93.75 øre/kWh including VAT). The state will then pay 90 percent of the power price above this level.
You will receive electricity support regardless of which power agreement or supplier you have. It is the same for everyone, and always based on the spot price, hour by hour.
Example of how much is covered:
Electricity price | You pay | Electricity subsidy |
---|---|---|
100 | 94,38 | 5,63 |
200 | 104,38 | 95,63 |
300 | 114,38 | 185,63 |
400 | 124,38 | 275,63 |
500 | 134,38 | 365,63 |
You do not need to take any action to receive the compensation as it will automatically be deducted from your grid rental.
If the amount exceeds the grid rental, and you receive electricity and grid rental on the same invoice, it will be deducted from the part you pay for the electricity. If not, it will be paid out to your bank account.
Who can receive electricity subsidy:
- Private households, that is, registered with a personal identification number.
- Housing companies (collective electricity consumption for households in condominium associations, housing cooperatives, housing stock companies, and non-segmented housing associations).
- Consumption up to 5,000 kWh per month. Consumption above this will not be compensated.
- Cabins and holiday homes are not included in the scheme.
See the electricity subsidy in the app
In our app, you as a customer can see hourly rates including electricity support. This makes it easier for you to know what the electricity will actually cost and you don't have to wait until the end of the month to find out what the electricity support will be.
You also have the option to choose a display of the grid rent, so that you can see the hourly price including both electricity and grid rent.
* The hourly rate must exceed 93.75 øre/kWh for the electricity subsidy to be displayed.
